Wedding trends for 2020 and 2021
Wedding trends
Nearly everything can be “in”; success depends on the story and the harmony of the ensemble. A lot of experience and skill is necessary to surprise without abusing fashion. Everything is possible, if it’s done well.
Bride fashion
Voluptuous tulle dresses are in style, as long as they have a fairytale-like design, as well as cutting edge minimalistic dresses, completely alien from the nuptial dress code.
Pleated dresses with oversize shoulders are in vogue, as well as slightly coy country style dresses made of delicate fabrics which bring back the 80’s with their “House on the Prairie” style puffy sleeves.
Those who prefer the more a relaxed look are in luck as short dresses with frills and XL sleeves are trending this season.
We can also find classic prints, such as dots, which combined with transparencies create the perfect tandem. For the more daring, we have to mention shirt dresses, like one the French influencer Lolita Jacobs wore.
Dresses with pockets, pink single-color looks and second hand vintage style accessories are currently highly sought after.

Hats are still trending with some extraordinary designs for both brides and guests. Pamela hats, rafia or felp boater hats, or ornaments decorated with feathers and laces.
Flowers remain in fashion and we can find them in embroideries, laces, accessories and jewellery.

The few weddings that will be celebrated in 2020 and 2021 will revolve around consciousness and authenticity.
The fact that your wedding is coherent and honest will be the most beautiful memory you will take with you. People look for creative and authentic ways to celebrate keeping true to their style.
Natural weddings are becoming more popular everyday (less, is more); sustainability, using local products both in food as in the flowers, table runners of vegetables, hanging decorations, decorations with fruits, creating natural environments and scenarios with foliage, trees, plants.. both inside and outside.
Sustainability, naturalness and liberty
Regardless of the kind of wedding you have in mind, sustainability is one of the current and future paradigms for weddings. Many couples have already started sending digital invitations instead of the traditional paper ones. The vegan menu will soon cease to be in the “special menu” category as since 2020 we can safely say that vegan and ecological are more popular every day, even though still not as popular as we would like.
Many couples are already looking to use local and sustainable products.

As far as the style of the wedding, the fine art style is in demand among the more modern brides.
The exaggerated and lavish has been left behind to give way to more simple quality decorations with an element that stands out, such as a cloud of paniculata on the dance floor, a large arch of flowers in the ceremony or something to frame the couple during the dinner.
Natural gains popularity; wild flowers, dry flowers, colourful pampa grass and aromatic plants are received with open arms.
Wedding celebrations in nature became popular a long time ago, but it doesn’t look like they are going to lose acclaim anytime soon, because villas and spaces in nature emanate a sense of peacefulness, and give intimacy and freedom. Furthermore on an organizational and creative level they allow a lot more flexibility and possibilities than other venues when it comes down to personalizing the wedding. The fact that one chooses to celebrate the wedding in a country estate does not mean it needs to have a rural style, you can give it the style you like (elegance, boho, vintage, sophisticated…).

One can do whatever one wants as long as it is done well. Freedom on all levels is the most significant victory in this sector, which in recent years has evolved greatly.
The most important thing is to create a story which makes sense: to marry the person you love, to define a style which is in accordance with your personality and to invite the people that are truly important for you.
More cocktail, less dinner and more party
Over the past 7 years, the cocktail has gained prominence over the long and boring dinners. We have currently left the traditional protocol behind, and transforming the wedding into an amazing party has become the priority.

In spite of spending less time at the dinner, the table centrepieces have the decorative spotlight: Flowers, candles, colossal creations, elements that interact with the tableware. Absolutely everything is allowed in the wedding table centrepieces, which are the focal point of all glances.
In 2020 and 2021, the imperial tables are combined with round and square ones, with the object of creating beauty in the final composition and facilitating the distribution of the guests at the tables. The idea is to combine square tables with holes with trees or large structures in the centre, with smaller round ones with floral centrepieces and candles.

The music is a must at weddings. Live bands, saxophone and percussion performances, DJ performances, etc.

The secret is in the person
If you know who you are and you trust yourself, when you see the photos of your wedding in 15 years, you will still love them, in spite of changes in fashion and you yourself having evolved.
What will always remain in fashion, and cannot be simulated, is elegance, honesty, and spontaneity.
